WHY DID THE APOSTLES RECEIVE THE HOLY SPIRIT?

Many people have longed for the dramatic fulfillment of the “Pentecost experience” and have wondered why those people received the special gift of love. It seems to me they received the Holy Spirit because they were at the right place at the right time with the right attitude. They were in attendance on that day of Firstfruits instead of being out fishing or tax collecting , etc. They were there rejoicing in one accord but I am sure they had no specific foreknowledge of what was going to develop on that particular day. All they knew was that they were to receive some kind of power sometime in the near future.

The reason that they were at the right place at the right time with the right attitude is that they were called, chosen and faithful. They could not have come had they not been called and they would not have been chosen had they not been faithful.

Have you been called today? Then don’t harden your heart and don’t be weary in well doing but if you are faithful to your calling your Father can direct your path and you too will be in the right place at the right time with the right attitude.
