WHY DO WE USE THE NAME YAHVAH?

In the Old Testament scriptures the Divine name of our Heavenly Father is used almost 7,000 times. It's pronunciation has long been a controversy even among Hebrew scholars. The four letters comprising the Name are called the "tetragrammaton". Many times the Name is spelled YHVH in English writings but sometimes pronounced with a "w" sound instead of a "v" sound. Of course the vowel letters have to be added in between the consonants because originally there were no vowels written out in Hebrew. We believe the "vav" which is the 6th letter of the Hebrew alphabet is primarily pronounced as a "v" as it is in the name Eve or Havah, the name David, and in the words tiqvah, miqvah, and mistvah.
